Christmas Fayre Several stall holders did not tern up due to weather conditions.
It was recommended and accepted that any stall holders next year will be asked to pay a £20 refundable deposit. A good and successful evening.
CCTV There was full agreement at the meeting for the installation of CCTV camera on the High Street.
Bob will continue to research full installation and operational cost.
Full support will be asked and expected of the council particularly in the planning application process and the siting of the cameras.
Any CCTV system will require match funding, Bob is also looking at how the larger companies in Saxmundham can contribute.
It was emphasised that these cameras are retrospective cameras and will only be used if any wrong doing, is committed (crimes anti social behaviour)
Sgt. Day Goddard explained that the police are in full support of the cameras not as a big brother approach, but we need to look with a positive and proactive approach these cameras will bring to Saxmundham. We want to look after the community, bring a feel good factor to the area and of course reduce the crime related behaviour.
Any system could take up to six months or more to be installed.
It was asked if individuals could do any this to help themselves. As an example
Sound and Vision in Leiston have introduced there own system and is proving to be a deterrent. Could this be used as a stop gap?
AOB
